After the Meiji Restoration, the rise of naturalistic literature in Japan has emphasized the portrayal of purely objective and truthfulness and put forward the slogan of “literary imminent life, personality to be completely liberated”, represented by writers such as Tian Shan Hua Dai and Shimazaki Fujimura. Naturalistic literature has the characteristics of approaching life, confronting contradictions, being plain and simple, being loyal to human nature, realism and emphasizing individuality, opening a new chapter in the history of Japanese literature. However, there are also some shortcomings such as the narrow scope of writing, the exclusion of rational factors, the dark colors and the pessimistic despair. In general, Japanese naturalist literature has brought profound and huge influence on modern Japanese literature both in theory and practice.
