2003年11月5日,南水北调工程建设工作座谈会在北京召开。国务院南水北调工程建设委员会办公室主任张基尧出席会议并发表重要讲话,他首先介绍了南水北调工程建设的形势和任务以及南水北调工作当前进展情况。并指出,南水北调工程是一项战略工程,是解决北方地区水资源短缺的供水工程,是促进人与自然协调的生态工程,是落实“三个代表”的重要思想的重大举措。党中央、国务院高度重视南水北调工作,多次作出重要指示。
On November 5, 2003, the Symposium on the Construction of South-North Water Diversion Project was held in Beijing. Zhang Jiyao, director of the Office of the State Council’s South-North Water Diversion Project Construction Committee, attended the meeting and delivered an important speech. First, he introduced the situation and tasks of the South-North Water Diversion Project and the current progress of the South-to-North Water Diversion. He pointed out that the South-to-North Water Diversion Project is a strategic project, a water supply project to solve the water shortage in the northern region, an ecological project to promote the coordination between man and nature, and a major measure for implementing the important thinking of the ’Three Represents.’ The Central Party Committee and the State Council attach great importance to the work of South-to-North Water Diversion and have repeatedly given important instructions.
