火炬松(Pinus taeda L.)原产美国,在原产地被称为 loblolly 松,loblolly 意为烂泥坑,因该树常生于烂泥洼地而得名。我国据学名译为“太德松”或“台大松”。与本种同时引进我国的还有另一形态习性极相近似的湿地松(Pelliottii Engel.),经已故郑万钧教授研究认为两种的区别如下表所示。安徽省林科所与安徽省马鞍山市林场观察研究,以树冠形状与分枝特性为依据,将火炬松初步划为三个类型:1.窄冠密枝型,树冠成尖塔型,分枝细密均匀,分枝角度一般小于60°,主干通直,尖削度小,树度浅薄光滑,鳞状裂纹小而浅,长势旺盛,针叶细软,结实迟,有少量
