Internet使得全球企业用户间的关系已发生了革命性的变化:它缩短或消除了处理过程、更快更容易接触更广阔的市场和全新的用户。同时,Internet衍生出了不少概念,比如IDC、ASP等等。作为一项新生事物难免存在炒作现象,ASP概念也一样。但是一旦用户知道了到底什么是ASP,并且能够明确地提出自己的需求,ASP就可以真正为它的商业用户带来利益。归根结底,ASP使得用户不用自己建设基础架构就可迅速采用最新的应用程序。用户可以避开IT资源和资金的短缺问题,用最新的应用程序提供高度竞争力的业务。打个形象的比喻,ISP为用户提供了因特网络的接入服务,而ASP为用户提供的是应用程序的接入服务。相对ASP而言,ISP业务相对简单。ASP不仅需要接入因特网,还需要在诸如主机托管、系统集成、销售渠道等其它领域的知识和专门技能。很多ISP正考虑成为ASP,而很多ASP却从未做过ISP。
The Internet has revolutionized the relationship between business users worldwide: it has shortened or eliminated processes, making it faster and easier to reach a broader market and new users. At the same time, Internet derived a lot of concepts, such as IDC, ASP and so on. As a new thing inevitably speculation exists, ASP concept is the same. But once the user knows exactly what ASP is, and can clearly put forward their own needs, ASP can really bring benefits to its business users. After all, ASP allows users to quickly adopt the latest applications without building their own infrastructure. Users can circumvent the shortage of IT resources and capital to provide highly competitive business with the latest applications. To make an analogy, ISP provides users with Internet access services, and ASP provides users with access to applications. Relative to the ASP, ISP business is relatively simple. ASP not only needs access to the Internet but also needs knowledge and expertise in other areas such as hosting, systems integration, sales channels and more. Many ISPs are considering becoming ASPs, and many ASPs have never done ISPs.
