The symposium on industrial restructuring and development initiated jointly by the Institute of Industrial Economics of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Industrial Policy Department of the State Development Planning Commission and the China Institute of Industrial Economics and Management, and the 6th Annual Meeting of China Society of Industrial Economics and Management, in 1990, 11 Month held in Xi’an. More than 130 scholars, economists from relevant departments of the State Council and some regions, entrepreneurs from some large and medium-sized industrial enterprises, academics and universities engaged in research and teaching of industrial economy, attended the meeting. The meeting analyzed the progress of China’s industrial restructuring in the past two years and discussed the progress made in the period of the Eighth Five-Year Plan and in the 1990s
