顾晋是北京大学肿瘤医院结直肠肿瘤外科主任。这位声名远扬的外科大夫,从2000年起,却一直在研究一门不那么专业的学问——如何将坏消息传递给病人。情商比智商更重要那天上午,顾晋穿着白大褂走进诊室。刚进来,就有不少病人围上来。有希望加号的,有希望给自己先看的。他一一安慰大家,并让助手给一些急切的病人加号。顿时,诊室安静下来。顾晋坐定,开始接诊。一个从外地来的病人,盯着顾晋的一举一动。顾晋仔细看完病人的化验单,拍拍病人的肩说:“你肠子上长了个东西,我给你拿掉就行。”病人怔了一下,随后似乎略微放松下来,点点头说:“全听您的。”这是顾晋告诉病人坏消息的一种方式。他尽量避免使用诸如“癌”“肿瘤”“转移”等刺激性的字词,而是用“东西”“跑”等病人容易接受的字词替代。“做医生,有时情商比智商更重要。”顾晋说。刚入行时,他并不太在意与病人的交流。1999年,他到美国哥伦比亚大学内外科学院做访问学者,目睹了美国同行如何与患者沟通。美国的做法是直接告知病人实情,这是法律规定。“不过,告知实情不意味着不讲方式方法。”顾晋说,美国医生非常重视与病人的沟通技巧,一些医学院还专门开设“如何告诉病人坏消息”的课程。
