湖北省沔阳县,位居江汉平原的腹部,北靠汉江,南临东荆河,东接汉江下游分洪泛区与长江相连,西与潜江县接壤。全县总面积2474平方公里,耕地面积190多万亩。境内地势平坦,地面高差在10米以内,自西北向东南略成一倾斜面。主要河流有通顺河、通州河、洛江河、展翅长河等六条,大小湖泊32个,小洼地25个,河湖交错,民垸纵横。多年平均降雨量1300毫米,汛期5～8月占年降雨总量的60％。
Leiyang County, Hubei Province, is located in the abdomen of the Jianghan Plain. It borders the Han River in the north, the east Jinghe River in the south, the flood diversion area in the lower reaches of the Han River to the east and the Qianjiang County in the west. The county a total area of 2474 square kilometers, 190 acres of arable land. The terrain is flat, the ground elevation within 10 meters, from northwest to southeast slightly into a slope. There are six main rivers, including Tongshun River, Tongzhou River, Luojiang River and the Yangtze River, 32 lakes, 25 small depressions, rivers and lakes, and vertical and horizontal embankments. The annual average rainfall of 1300 mm, flood season from May to August accounted for 60% of the total annual rainfall.
