“板式”即是节奏,京剧唱腔板式的变化是根据戏剧情节发展中节奏的变化需要而设计的,不同板式具有不同的功能和特点。在艺术创作中,艺术家为最好地呈现作品主题和艺术风格而精心安排、编织作品的结构。京剧唱腔从总体布局、舞台节奏变化到风格把握、声腔起承及韵律转合,都要努力契合整出戏的主题呈现和艺术风格。以各种不同板式的连接和变化,作为构成人物主要唱段、整场戏或整出戏音乐陈述的基本手段,就是用来表现各种不同的戏剧情绪和内容。板式设计要与戏剧结构相一致,板式的设计同时也制约着舞台节奏的变化,板式设计与戏剧节奏之间关系密切。
