During the period when national oil companies cut back on investment, private companies are making efforts to develop the oil and gas market in Central Asia. But the risk behind ambitions has not been reduced as a result. The countries of Central Asia are rich in oil, natural gas, coal and other energy resources. However, following years of war, the infrastructure of the domestic oil and gas industry has lagged behind, and the local people have not enjoyed the wealth of oil and gas resources. In order to change the status quo of the embarrassment, the oil and gas resources of the Central Asian countries have opened their doors to investors. Since CNPC entered Central Asia in 1997, the market’s main force in the region has been the three major state-owned oil companies. Until 2013, it smelled of business opportunities.
