On August 1, 1894, China and Japan officially declared war on each other and the two countries’ half-century fight officially kicked off. The Sino-Japanese War was no longer merely a product of the bilateral conflicts between China and Japan, but a result of a long-lasting gambling game in international relations. It was closely linked with the game of major powers such as Britain, Russia, France, the United States and Germany at that time and the global strategy. China finally started demonstrating the army: Li Hung-chan ordered that the entire fleet of the Northern Fleet be dispatched to conduct a counter-clockwise cruise to the Korean Peninsula from west to east. Since the Anti-Japanese War of the Ming Dynasty, this was the first time the Chinese navy slammed the sword in the Jeju Strait. After the Opium War, the Chinese navy slammed the sword for the first time in a crisis area.
