Immunology plays an important role in the study of leprosy. Leprosy, unlike any other infectious disease, is that its immune system determines not only whether infection leads to self-healing or morbidity but also its clinical type. The clinical classification of leprosy basically depends on changes in the balance between cellular immunity and humoral immunity of leprosy, which has been widely accepted and has been defined as both polar and borderline categories. However, these studies usually reflect the immune system’s response to intact leprosy and seldom note that a wide variety of reactions may occur to various proteins, glycolipids and polysaccharides in leprosy. Because lymphocytes react with the antigenic determinants of bacteria, so for leprosy
