The first member congress and translation seminar of the Association of Science and Technology Translation Workers of the Chinese Academy of Sciences was held in the Shanghai Branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences from February 24 to February 28, 1992, with more than 140 participants. This is the first such grand convention and translation seminar for science and technology translators for more than five years since the institute was founded. At the opening ceremony, Comrade Li Yashu, Deputy Secretary-General of the Chinese Association of Translators, read out a letter of congratulation from Vice-President Hu Qicheng, president of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, on the conference.
