河北省无极县制革业已有十几年的历史,至1995年底,从业人员已达5万余人,涉及4个乡镇60个村,覆盖农户14000个,年加工各类皮革1700多万张,年产值达14亿元,利税1.3亿元,已成为我县经济发展的一大支柱行业。但制革业又是有群体无规模、有行业无龙头,生产粗放经营,环境污染十分严重。每年排放的大量废水,其悬浮物、铬离子等有毒物含量严重超标,造成地下50米以上水质被污染,饮用后引起人的骨质钙化、咽喉炎、肺癌、妇女不孕、畸胎、幼儿弱智等严重后果。由此县人大近几年来对皮革污染治理问题一直很重视。督促政府
