Two years of greenhouse experiments were conducted to clarify the effect of nitrogen on cotton bolls, boll development and fiber quality. The bolls of bolls and cotton bolls at the ripening stage varied from 1% of the lowest nitrogen application to 3% of the highest nitrogen application. Nitrogen stress reduced leaf area, number of bolls and single boll weight, and the number of bolls per plant decreased more than boll weight. Nitrogen had no effect on boll maturity. Under nitrogen stress, the boll node on the main stem and fruiting branch affected the boll weight. However, nitrogen stress affects only fiber uniformity in fiber quality traits. The second fruit of cotton boll fiber micelles, length, strength and uniformity values were lower than the first section, but the fiber elongation higher.
