1, the world sales of beer and barley beer demand: Since 1981, the world beer sales of 97 billion liters or so. Assuming that the world needs about 12 kilograms of malt for every 100 liters of beer produced, we can get the quantity of barley needed in all regions of the world. Approximately 16.7 million tons of raw wheat are required worldwide each year to produce about 11.6 million tons of malt and about 97 billion liters of beer. The demand for raw wheat by the brewing industry accounts for only about 10.4% of the world’s total barley production.
