我国著名的国画大师张大千一生酷爱梅花,并自喻为“梅痴”。梅,为书画四君子之首,她高洁、馨香、斗寒,不畏世俗所伤。张大千对梅怀有一种极为深厚的感情。早在20年代,他居于上海时,每适梅花盛开之际,他总要南下杭州孤山、塘栖探梅,徜徉于梅的海洋里赏梅,品梅,画梅。40年代初,张大千举家居住在四川灌县青城山上的上清宫道观内,在那里,他带领门生写生作画,还在院内栽植了诸多的红梅和绿梅,为上清宫增添了几许浓浓的春色。在这之后,大千先生旅居海外30余载,对于梅仍怀有“剪不断,理还乱”的眷恋
