The author applied the energy method to analyze and discuss the deformation and internal forces of “double-panel” and “single-panel” dock doors in “Hong Kong Gong Technology Newsletter”, the second issue of 1979 and the third edition of 1981. Based on the principle of least work and taking into account the effect of torsional strain energy on the overall stress of the “single-panel” dock door structure, the calculated results are close to those obtained by the finite element method, the model experiment and the field observations. However, how to reverse the effect of strain energy on the internal force of “double-deck” dock door structure?
