足球可以反映一个时代的风貌。八十年代的足球从一个侧面演绎了该年代世界历史发展状况。死亡、灾难、暴力泛滥、追求权势、为求胜不择手段等等,都在世界足球史上占了一席不光彩的位置。灾难与暴力互见球场灾难与暴力事件在八十年代中出现得似乎过于频繁了。1985年比利时海塞尔球场骚乱,死伤惨重:1989年英国设菲尔德球场上有95名利物浦球迷被压死在围网上:1982年在苏联的欧洲足协杯赛莫斯科队对荷兰哈林队的比赛中,至少有340名球迷在结冰的走道上被挤压而死。这些球场冤魂扭曲的面孔及恐怖死状令人难以忘却。球迷是球场灾难的受害者,也是灾难的制造者。
