On December 5, 1989, the State Science and Technology Commission, together with the Press and Publication Administration, issued the Circular on Compression and Reorganization of Natural Science and Technology Journals. According to the circular, natural science and technology journals have witnessed rapid development in recent years and made positive contributions in propagating the party’s scientific and technological policies, disseminating scientific and technological information, conducting academic exchanges, promoting scientific and technological progress and developing the national economy.
