Malignant phenotypes, such as tumor invasion and metastasis, are the result of the interaction between the tumor cells and the extracellular matrix. The key step is the detachment of the tumor cells from the primary tumor and reattachment of the metastatic sites. In recent years, many foreign literatures emphasize the important role of cell adhesion receptors such as cadherins (Cd) and integrins in the malignant phenotype of tumors.
