古交镇位于太原市区以西约38公里的汾河南岸,地当山西南北之咽喉,太原以西之屏障。由于煤炭资源丰富,古交区已被列为全国重点煤炭基地之一。1983年7月笔者与古交区文管所鲁吉龙同志在配合该区基本建设过程中,于古交镇以西约1公里的凤凰崖等地发现了大量打制石器,现将初步观察情况报告如下。一、地质概况和石制品分布1958年划出古交工矿区,归太原市管辖,
Gujiao Town is located in the south bank of Fenhe River, about 38 kilometers west of Taiyuan City. It serves as the throat of the southwest and north of the mountain and the barrier to the west of Taiyuan. Due to its abundant coal resources, Gujiao District has been listed as one of the key coal bases in China. In July 1983, the author and Comrade Lu Jilong, governor of the ancient Jiaoguo District, found a great deal of stone-making tools during the capital construction of the area with Phoenix Cliff about 1 km west of Gujiao Town.
