As is known to all, sports stars earn largeamounts of money every year. Yao Ming, the famousbasketball star, for instance, tops Forbes' list ofwealthiest Chinese celebrities by 150 million yuana year. Some people hold the view that they do notdeserve the high pay that they are getting. Some evenargue that sports stars do nothing to society apartfrom entertaining. Their contributions to the societyare much less than that made by doctors, firemen, scientists, professors, etc. So, it is unfair for them toobtain so much money. But, I think it is justifiablefor them to get such high pay.
While sports are for entertainment, it does notmean that they are not important to people's life. Why do so many peoplego to see football matchesand NBA games? Why arepeople so passionate aboutthe Olympic Games? It isbecause the games excitethem. They enjoy the games, and they are willing to payto See the performanceS;owing to the sport stars, ourlife becomes more colorful. Some sports stars gainhonor for their country, andtheir countrymen are proudof them. They contribute tothe spiritual civilization6,
Sports stars are paidwell because they playwell! They usually are atthe top of the rankings intheir areas. In any area ofthe world you have to payif you want the best. Why not in sports? Skillsin sports are like the skills in works of art. Peoplewill not say that the Mona Lisa was bought for toomuch money, will they'3? Most stars are skilledin their own field not only because of their talentsbut also of their hard training. They have tokeep performing at their peak to keep earning themoney. They get it with their special skills andthrough hard work like anyone else.
What's more. they contribute to the nationaleconomy. Take NBA in America for example,The stars help to support the whole basketballindustry, which is related to the industry of varioussports wear, sports equipment, and so on. Sports stars alsocontribute to the advertisingindustry. Since they arewell known in the -world,they absorb many people'sattention. As a result, sales ofproducts that are advertisedby them usually have animmediate effect in boomingthe sales. Sports stars likeYao Ming with enormousmarket influence are regardedas keys for producers whenentering a new market.
In a word, sports starsdeserve the pay they getby their hard working, good performance and wideinfluence of the world.
