常熟县自1958年来对细菌肥料作了较大范围的生产和使用,亦取得不少成绩,如练塘公社红光大队七小队横丘田用固氮菌抗生菌作水稻的基肥和追肥,增产达15%;金星大队水稻追固氮菌,增产2—10%;白茆公社2亩丰产田施用固氮菌20斤,抗生菌20斤,不到半月黄瘦早麦苗全部转青,1959—1960年又进行同样试验,结果增产6%;徐市公社中心大队七十多亩条播麦田,施用菌肥后,三类苗赶上一类苗,该片小麦增产12.5%;珍门、鹿苑等社队使用效果也很明显。
