In this paper, 40 cases of sudden deafness were reported, the superoxide dismutase (SOD) was significantly lower than that of the control group (P <0.01), but LPO and fasting blood glucose (FBG) <005 or P <0.001). It is pointed out that sudden deafness not only has the change of free radicals and fasting blood glucose, but also the decrease of SOD is closely related to the increase of FBG. It also suggests that the damaging effect of free radicals may be an important pathophysiological link of sudden deafness.
