中药八角茴香系木兰科植物八角Illicium verum Hook.f.的干燥果实。具有性温、味辛。温中散寒,理气止痛的功能。主治胃寒、腹痛、气逆、呕吐、膀胱虚冷、疝气痛等症。主产东南亚的亚热带山区。我国多产于云南、贵州、广东、广西、福建等省。八角茴香不仅供给国内药用,并可作为医药工业和香料工业的原料;如提取茴香油、合成女性激素己烷雌酚;提取大茴香脑,合成大茴香醛和大茴香醇,作为香皂、牙膏、食品、牙粉和化妆品的香精。而且也是我国重要出口商品之一,我国八角茴香的出口量约占全世界
