ORCA 3TP12是首次在FPGA器件中嵌入了固定的通用功能单元的集成电路。估计随着制造工艺特征尺寸的缩小,这类技术将会得到普及。之所以选择PCI总线接口作为第一个嵌入芯片的硬件单元,只是为了适应当前通信交换市场的需要而已。 ORCA 3TP12的上市,标志着ORCA 3+系列产品(Lucent公司称它为“现场可编程系统芯片”)的登场。此系列产品中的其它成员将分别嵌入该公司自己单元库中的其它单元。 3TP12在系列3的FPGA产品中嵌入了一个32/64位的PCI接口芯核。
The ORCA 3TP12 is the first integrated circuit that has embedded fixed general-purpose functional units in an FPGA device. It is estimated that as the feature size of the manufacturing process shrinks, such technologies will gain popularity. The reason for choosing the PCI bus interface as the first hardware unit embedded in the chip is to accommodate the needs of the current communications switching market. The launch of the ORCA 3TP12 marks the debut of the ORCA 3+ family of products, which Lucent calls “Field Programmable System Chips.” Other members of this family will be embedded in separate units in the company’s own cell library. The 3TP12 embeds a 32- / 64-bit PCI interface core in Series 3 FPGA products.
