Objective: To investigate the effects of pregnancy weight gain on delivery mode and perinatal outcome. Methods: From January 2005 to January 2006 in our hospital for prenatal care and delivery of singleton primiparous 450 cases, according to pre-pregnancy body mass index (BMI) is divided into 3 groups: normal group 18.5≤BMI <23, super Recombination 23 ≤ BMI <25, obese group BMI ≥ 25. According to the weight gain during pregnancy, the patients were divided into 3 groups: the increase of BMI in group A was less than 4, the increase of 4≤BMI in group B was less than 6, and the increase of BMI in group C was no more than 6. To investigate the incidence of huge children in each group, cesarean section rate and the occurrence of obstetric complications. Results: The incidence of macrosomia and cesarean section rate in pre-pregnancy obese group and overweight during pregnancy were significantly higher than those in normal group. Conclusion: Improving the quality of perinatal care, strengthening nutritional guidance and avoiding obesity are crucial for reducing maternal and infant complications.
