In the Jin Dynasty (265-420), there was a famous cal- ligrapher named Wang Xizhi. He was good at writing official script. He also liked geese so much that he kept some geese as his pets and scould spend his spare time watching goose.
One day, Wang Xizhi heard that a Taoist living on the top of mountain was good at raising geese and had several unusual geese. Therefore, he came to the mountain top and found the Taoist, claiming his wish to see the geese. He took out his moneybag and wanted to buy one or two geese from the Taoist. However, the Taoist rejected him and still said no even Wang began to beg him.
Wang Xizhi had no way but to tell the Taoist that he was Wang Xizhi. Having heard of this famous calligrapher, the Taoist said to Wang Xizhi: “If you can write a copy of the first two chapters of Tao Te Ching, I can send the entire herd of geese to you.”
Wang Xizhi was very glad and he spent half a day copying the long chapters of the sutra. After that he happily took the geese back to his home.
