Located in Kyushu, Kyushu is a semi-enclosed area with Ming Ho Sui, famous for its high output of shellfish products. However, the number of these seafood products has dropped dramatically in recent years, and some species have even been extinct. The reason there is no clear and unified understanding. The survey results show that the acid treatment agent used heavily by local residents in the cultivation of seaweed is likely to cause deterioration of the environmental geotechnical properties of the sediment in the tidal zone, resulting in a large death of shellfish living in the sediment. Accordingly, we conducted a series of field surveys and laboratory tests of soil columns to test the effect of acid treatment agents on the pH, sulfide content, salt concentration and liquid limit moisture content of the sediment. The results showed that the acid treatment agent not only caused the pH value of the sediment to decrease and the salt concentration decreased, but also led to the significant increase of sulfide content, even higher than that of shellfish. Finally, the mechanism of significant change of environmental geotechnical properties of sediment was discussed from the point of view of the dynamic morphology of phosphorus element in marine sediments.
