1996年12月20日,上海人民企盼已久的上海图书馆新馆正式对外开放服务,这是中共上海市委、上海市人民政府狠抓社会主义精神文明建设,在“九五”计划的第一年,为全市人民办的一大实事,也是上海人民文化生活中的一件大喜事。建设现代化的一流大都市,需要一流的文化设施与之相配套。上海图书馆新馆的建成,标志着上海地区图书情报事业在现代化的进程中迈出了具有历史意义的重要一步,也昭示了上海地区文献信息管理服务工作的良好发展前景。
On December 20, 1996, the long-awaited Shanghai Museum’s new library was officially opened to the outside world. This is the first time that the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee and the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government pay close attention to the construction of socialist spiritual civilization. In the Ninth Five-Year Plan Year, a major event for the people in the city, Shanghai people’s cultural life is a happy event. Building a modern, first-class metropolis requires first-class cultural facilities to complement it. The completion of the new Shanghai Library symbolizes that the library and information services in Shanghai have taken a significant historic step in the process of modernization and also made clear the good prospects for the development of document information management services in Shanghai.
