野戰火炮仍是現代地面作戰中實施進攻或防禦的火力支柱。各國野戰火炮都力求在距敵方火炮射程之外進行炮擊,以增强戰場生存力,獲得火力優势,掌握戰場主動權。因此,自六十年代以來,國外軍界一直不斷地採用各種先進的技術、手段,通過不同途徑來增大火炮的射程。概括起來有兩種方法:一為武器增程法,即採用較長身管火炮或較高膛壓火炮,或採取二者兼備的方法增大初速,提高射程;二為彈藥增程法,即採用多種增程彈藥的方法。從效果看,後一種方法較前一種方法省力、省
