水工模型試驗工作随着祖国水利建設事業的發展而發展着。它对水工建筑物設計和管理的必要性与重要性,已經为国内外水利建設的实践所証实。目前已没有一个比较重大的水工建筑物,在設計最后定案以前不进行模型試驗的。經驗証明:对某些水工建筑物来說,通过水工模型试驗,不但可以帮助找出在使用和管理上合理而可靠的水工建筑物的型式,从而保証它的使用效果和安全,而且,有时还可借以大大減少工程建設的投资。
