Although the term translatology is not widely recognized in university curricula as other independent disciplines, it is widely used by translators. Therefore, it is necessary to reorient the translatology in the current era of globalization. In the author’s opinion, as a “marginal” discipline that is closely related to the natural sciences, social sciences and humanities, translation studies can be studied at least three levels: comparative linguistics, comparative literature and cultural studies . However, translation studies do not belong to any of the above disciplines. It should have its own objects and areas of study as well as basic methodologies: to regard all phenomena related to the translation and interpretation of theory and reality as its subjects. Its methodology should also be pluralistic: it is both aesthetic and critical as well as empirical and scientific. As the pace of globalization accelerates, the role of translation studies will also become increasingly evident.
