Differences in languages, cultural backgrounds and research paradigms are common issues that English-language social science journals in non-English speaking countries and regions need to face in the process of internationalization. Based on the Journal Citation Report issued by the Thomson Reuters US from 2000 to 2013, SSCI-included journals of other Chinese-speaking academic circles represented by Taiwan, China, SSCI-included journals of East Asian academic circles represented by Japan and South Korea , SSCI-included journals of non-English academic circle represented by BRIC were taken as research objects and compared with social science journals in mainland China collected by SSCI. As a result, the social science journals in mainland China, which are included in the SSCI, have outnumbered the areas of Taiwan, other East Asian countries and the BRICS countries in quality, although they are not as large in number as South Korea and Brazil. China’s social science journals, which are indexed by the SSCI and evaluated by influence, have the same advantages as China’s economic and social development and have entered a period of steady rise.
