自上世纪七十年代初在阿扎尼亚发现含金刚石的金伯利岩以来,传统的金刚石成矿理论认为:金伯利岩是金刚石唯一的原始源泉;金刚石是从原始金伯利岩浆中结晶出来的;金伯利岩浆的快速上升是金刚石保存下来的必要条件。近年来的地质研究和找矿实践,对以上成矿理论提出了疑义。 (一)金云火山岩的发现及其意义澳大利亚西北部金伯利高原的金刚石原生矿床,不但产于金伯利岩中,也产于金云火山岩(lamproite,或译为钾镁煌斑岩)以及某些过渡型岩石中。七十年代末已查明三个有重要经济价值的金云火山岩岩筒,其中Argyle岩筒长1600米,宽200—600米,面积45万平方米,
