明治以来的日本极为关注中国情势发展,各种势力争相介入,广搜信息。地处华南边陲的广西,亦属窥探范围。日本东亚同文书院的学生多次以大旅行的形式深入广西进行调查,撰写了一批极具实证价值的旅行记和调查报告。还有不少各具背景的企业、团体或个人,到广西了解地域经济、政治、社会与军事情况。这一方面暴露了他们的觊觎之心,另一方面也留下一批宝贵的近代史料。
Since the Meiji Japan has been extremely concerned about the development of the situation in China, and various forces are scrambling to intervene to search for information. Guangxi is located in southern China, is also a snooping range. Students from Japan’s East Asian Tongwen College repeatedly conducted extensive investigations in Guangxi in the form of big travels and wrote a series of traveler’s notes and investigation reports that are highly empirical. On the one hand, they exposed their heart and soul, on the other hand, they also left behind a group of valuable modern historical materials.
