传说鲁班是个孝顺的儿子,因为工作不能常陪在母亲身边,于是造了个自动的木马,可以带母亲去任何她想去的地方。可是有一天,木马带母亲出门后就再也没有回来。鲁班十分后悔。所以有“鲁班造马亡其母”的故事。这虽然是个传说,但人的想象力是无限的,故事本身就是人类对机械动力装置的最早想象和渴求!如果编造这个传说的人能看见今天满街跑的汽车,不知会发出怎样的感叹!
