叶挺两次递交辞呈的原因是相当复杂的,由于项、叶的性格、脾气方面的差异所引发的项、叶矛盾固然是其中的原因之一,然而国民党当局的限制、刁难及新四军领导体制、分工上存在的缺陷,也是叶挺辞职的重要原因。把项、叶关系失和完全归罪于项英,显然有失公允。
