On the anniversary of the first anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, I extend my sincere salute and congratulations to the Chinese people and Chinese intellectuals. October 1, 1949, the most glorious day in human history. The historic victory won by the Chinese people in overcoming the forces of imperialism and the domestic reactionaries is the most significant incident since the October Great Socialist Revolution and the victory of Socialist and Democratic forces over German fascism and the Japanese imperialist armed forces. The Soviet people have always believed in the victory of the Chinese people. They are convinced that it is just the long-term, arduous and brave struggle for the Chinese people to strive for their freedom and national independence. The Soviet people have always been friends of the Chinese people. In the most difficult years of their just struggle, the Chinese people will gain strength through faith in this friendship that is sincere and solid. The Soviet Union first recognized the People’s Republic of China. The friendship between the peoples of our two countries has been consolidated in the treaty of mutual assistance and mutual assistance signed by China and the Soviet Union in Moscow. This treaty was signed at the Kremlin Palace on those unforgettable days, that is, on the days of the 70th birthday of Stalin, the greatest humanity leader and genius, both by the Soviet people and by the world’s workers. In these days, Comrade Stalin and Mao Zedong, the leaders of the Chinese people, met each other. This meeting marks in itself the profound mutual respect of the great peoples of the two countries as well as the friendship of their forever immortal brothers. Today I remember the scene I saw firsthand when I was in China. I am one of the members of the Soviet Union’s cultural and arts science workers delegation. I visited China last October. Whenever these memories never disappear from my mind. The magnificent scene that was before us - the celebration of all the people, the high revolution of the people, the democracy practiced
