南通木版画根植于民间文化土壤,具有丰富的地域文化特色,深厚的历史文化底蕴和民族审美文化内涵,是南通民俗文化所诉诸的造型载体,在艺术形式的表现上与文化精神的传达上既体现了中国民间木版画的共同特性,又有地域特点。本课题将着重研究南通木版画的时代价值、独特的艺术语言和审美文化,以及其造型元素对现代艺术设计的造型形式借鉴和多元化应用进行探究。
