中专教育是我国专业技术教育序列中的一个重要层次,掌握一门外语是中专生必备的素质之一。因此,英语被列为中专教学的一门必修课,要求师生重视这门课的教和学。但从教学实际情况来看却不容乐观,大多数中专校学生学习英语的积极性不高,与社会上出现的“外语热”形成了较大的反差。这一状况应该引起我们的重视。笔者认为,造成中专英语教学不景气的主要原因在于教育行政部门对其缺乏明确的教学目标和要求,这一层次的英语教学游离于中学英语基础教学和大学英语、市民通用英语、托福、GRE 的等级考试序列之外。
Secondary education is an important level in China’s professional and technical education sequence. Mastering a foreign language is one of the qualities necessary for secondary school students. Therefore, English is listed as a required course for secondary school teaching, requiring teachers and students to pay attention to the teaching and learning of this course. However, from the actual situation of teaching, it is not optimistic. Most secondary school students’ enthusiasm for learning English is not high, and there is a big contrast with the “foreign language fever” that appears in the society. This situation deserves our attention. The author believes that the main reason for the sluggish teaching of secondary school English education lies in the lack of clear teaching objectives and requirements of the education administration department. This level of English teaching is dissociated from the basic English teaching in middle schools and college English, citizen general English, TOEFL, GRE Grading test sequence outside.
