美国第一位诺贝尔文学奖得主、小说家辛格莱·刘易斯曾在 2 0世纪2 0年代蜚声美国文坛。作为现实主义小说家 ,他似乎与美国 19世纪伟大的思想家、散文家亨利·戴·索罗之间没有多少联系。然而 ,刘易斯曾多次宣称索罗的《华尔腾》对自己的成长产生过很大的影响。本文通过对这二位不同时代、不同风格的作家进行比较研究 ,发现刘易斯确实曾受到索罗的影响。但在理想与现实之间 ,二人各有不同的侧重点
Singer Lewis, the first American Nobel Prize laureate and novelist, became famous in the United States in the 1920s. As a realist novelist, he seems to have little connection with Henry Dayo Solo, a great 19th-century American thinker and prose writer. However, Lewis has repeatedly claimed that Solo’s “Wal-Mart” had a significant impact on his own growth. By comparing the two writers of different ages and styles, I find that Lewis did indeed suffer from Sorrow. But between the ideal and the reality, the two have different focuses
