At the top of a mountain at 2400m above sea level in Linntal, Switzerland, there is a «Europe’s highest project» - the Linth Limmern airborne power station. According to Hans Matzner, senior project manager for power grid automation at ABB Switzerland, the Linth Limmern Pumped Storage Power Station forms a 600-m drop from Lake Muttsee and Lake Limmern for energy storage and generation. The power station has a total of 4 sets of generating units, each of up to 250MW, 4 sets of units at the same time running a power generation capacity comparable to a nuclear power plant. It took only 40 hours to fully drain the Lake Muttsee and reach the top of the hill via a 4km cable car
