In the first half of the 17th and 18th centuries, an innovation that took place in the consumer goods sector in Britain had quietly begun. With the prevalence of imported luxury goods in the East and Europe and the expansion of consumer demand in the middle class in Britain, luxury and semi-luxury consumption has seen unprecedented growth. The “consumer revolution” has emerged in Britain. At the same time, under the influence of mercantilism, British manufacturers and inventors started a series of technological and consumer product innovations starting from the imitation of imported consumer goods, eventually succeeding in creating a new type of consumer goods localized in the United Kingdom. By the end of the eighteenth century, Britain’s new consumer goods were sold all over Europe, the United States and other parts of the world. The United Kingdom thus established its economic and trade superiority and promoted the industrial revolution.
