[According to the British “International Flight” reported on October 21, 1978] NASA and Attec Optical Systems signed a contract worth $ 4.9 million to develop a large format camera for use on the space shuttle. Use this camera to get high-resolution photos. Each photo covers 165 km x 335 km of the Earth’s surface. The camera is a photogrammetric device. This means that the camera is precisely calibrated so that the measurement data on the photo can be directly converted into the actual distance on the ground.
