Hainan Land Reclamation was an old enterprise with a history of more than 50 years since the liberation in order to smash imperialism’s new-blooded conspiracy to impose a blockade on rubber by the People’s Republic of China and set up its own natural rubber base. Over 4 million tons of rubber products have been produced and the tax revenue and profit of more than 5 billion yuan have been turned in. The return on investment rate has reached 138%. The import of rubber products for the country has saved over 3 billion U.S. dollars of foreign exchange. It has made great contributions to enhancing the capability of the country in self-reliance, supporting industrial construction and national defense and improving the people’s livelihood. Since July 1990, the state-owned land reclamation enterprises implemented the system-wide old-age insurance co-ordination and all employees set up personal accounts.
