Japan’s raw silk exports began to grow after it opened in 1859. Compared with the European silk raw materials, high quality and cheap silk rapid development in Japan, 1909 leapt to the world raw silk exports first. Silk quality improvement is due to technological advances, the gradual mechanization of reeling process and the export of various factors, and provide low-cost silkworm cocoon supply sericulture operations support low-cost raw silk production. Japan’s export-oriented raw silk production was hit hardest by the war with the United States, a major importer of raw silk. Although there has been new development in the post-war industry, the export of raw silk has not increased, and it is challenged by other raw silk exporters. Recently, the sericulture industry in Japan has obviously declined, and the number of serfs who support the production of raw silk has also been reduced.
