A recent batch of ultra-high-strength steel, martensite-aged steel, was trialled by the British nickel company “The International Nickel Co.” (’Mond’Ltd.). Martensite aging is a simple method of heat treatment. Plasticizing martensites can be obtained by aging 18Ni-25Fe (which also contains CO, Mo, Ti, Al and Nb) steels. Tensile strength of this nickel steel 143-217 kg / mm ~ 2, yield strength of 138-200 kg / mm ~ 2, at minus or mid-temperature still has good ductility and impact strength. 18% Ni steel yield strength value greater than 170 kg / mm ~ 2.
