对节白蜡是湖北特有的盆景树种,于1975年首次发现于湖北京山县,此前国内外尚无文字记载,其生存演进历史也无从查考。后经林学界专家考证,确认它是属于木犀科白蜡属的一个新品种,到了1979年才正式定名为“对节白蜡”。从外形来看,对节白蜡叶片细小,枝干多姿,适宜于盆景创作。其天生习性更能印证它是不可多得的盆景佳材——对节白蜡生命力旺盛,萌芽力强,对于温度和土壤具有很强的适应
