由武汉市政协文史学习委员会、武汉大学中国传统文化研究中心和武汉市社会科学院共同主办的“张之洞与武汉早期现代化国际学术讨论会”,2002年9月2日至4日在武汉召开。来自海内外从事中国近代史研究的专家学者80余人参加了这次学术盛会。武汉市政协主席刘善璧代表主办单位致开幕词。中共武汉市委常委、宣传部长张岱梨出席了开幕式。著名历史学家章开沅教授作了精彩的学术演讲。会议结束时,武汉市市长李宪生会见并宴请了与会代表。
The “International Symposium on Zhang Zhidong and Early Modernization of Wuhan”, co-sponsored by Wuhan City CPPCC History Research Committee, Wuhan University Chinese Traditional Culture Research Center and Wuhan Academy of Social Sciences, was held in Wuhan from September 2 to September 4, 2002. More than 80 experts and scholars from home and abroad engaged in the research of Chinese modern history attended this academic event. Wuhan Municipal CPPCC Chairman Liu Shanbi on behalf of the organizers of the opening speech. CPC Wuhan Municipal Committee and Publicity Minister Zhang Dai pear attended the opening ceremony. Professor Zhang Kaiyuan famous historian made a brilliant academic speech. At the end of the meeting, Mayor of Wuhan City, Mr. Li Xiansheng, met with and invited delegates.
